For the first time, at Jumaah prayer today, I listened to everything the Imam said. When it was time to pray he told the congregation to align themselves and put their shoulders next to each other and to

“صلوا صلاة مودع”  pray the prayer of someone saying their farewells.

To pray as if it is the last time. Not even a traveler, but as someone having time to say his last farewells before the inevitable departure. Like imagine being told you have five minutes left and you say, “okay, I’ll use it to pray two rakaahs”. Thats how temporary this life is.

I have so much more to give, change, and learn before I’m ready to give a farewell prayer.

Life is so short. Love and pray and live as if you’re giving your last goodbyes.

“O Allah, verily I am your slave, the son of your slaves; my forelock is in your hand, your order concerning me will be executed and just is your judgment upon me. I ask You by all of Your names that You have named Yourself with, have revealed in Your book, have taught to one of Your creation, or is in Your knowledge only (from the matters of the unseen) – make the Qur’an the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the remover of my sadness, and the purger of my anxiety.”
